Sneak Thieves Enter Willard Hall At Northwestern University.
Miss Blanche Babcock, daughter of J. L. Babcock, of Parr, who is attending Northwestern University at Evanston, has a room in Willard Hall, which was entered Wednesday evening between 6 and 7 o’clock by sneak thieves. When the fact that several of the rooms had been entered and searched the occupants of the hall were thrown into a regular panic and it was difficult to pacify the young ladies. The Republican received the following special message relating the Intrusion: Williard Hall, at Evanston, 111., was entered Wednesday evening, between 6 and 7 o’clock, while the girls were down to dinner. Two men were seen in the hall, but as they were thought to be relatives, no alarm was sent in. When the girls came up from dinner it was discovered that money and valuables were missing. Detectives were notified but no clew has yet been found. Miss Raitt, the house director, and Miss Potter, the dean, were both absent when the robbery occurred. Blanche Babcock, of Parr, lives in the hall, and her room was across the hall from the room that was the most completely searched. It Is thought that they entered from a porch on the second floor. It is one of the most terrible things that has ever happened to Willard Hall in its entire history.
