New Councilmen Attend Session To Get the Hang o’ Things.
Councilmen-elect Hopkins, Grow and Kresler, of the Ist, 2d and 3d ward respectively, were at the council meeting Monday night getting the run of things and seeing how the experienced men who will shortly turn over the reigns of government to the new council, conduct business. They ran into a busy session that continued until about half after 10 o’clock, and heard two franchises read and discussed in addition to the regular routine business. Two of the “boy” councilmen, doubtless the result of early piety, have scarcely enough, hair left to engage in a hair pulling session and as all are both peaceable citizens it is quite probable that there will be no discords to mark the harmony of the new councilmafiie hardy; —— —_____ The mayor and the new council will be seated on the first of January. The out-going council has been an active body and much has been done in the manner of improving the city during the term it has served. Any or all of the members might have been retained for the city’s good on their records. Each seems to have close to his heart the welfare of the city, and the city can point with pride to the administration that is soon to be brought to a close. The new members are going in for a careful administration, conservatively progressive, and they are taking control at a time when they can make a good record for themselves, and do much for Rensselaer. .
