Horticultural Demonstration Was Pronounced Success.

Fruit growers of Jasper county to the number,, of forty or fifty gathered at the court house Thursday morning and listened to an address by Prof. Woodbury, of Purdue University, on the subject of fruit growiqg. Many questions were showered on the speaker and the enthusiasm proved the great interest that farmers feel in the matter. A number of farmers have been giving attention to fruit bearing trees and especially to pears and apples the past few years and they are anxious for more knowledge of the subject, realizing the great possibilities that come from proper care in planting, cultivating, pruning and spraying.

In the afternoon the scene of study was transferred from the court house to the orchard of Frank Parker, where exhibitions in practical pruning and spraying were given to a group of more than a hundred persons, including Prof. Lanning, teacher of botany and zoology in the Rensselaer city schools. The greatest interest was manifested and It is hoped much good will result.
