Vern Kaub Was Socialist Candidate for Clerk at Elkhart.

Vern Kaub, a graduate of the Rensselaer high school in 1902, and who is now working in a machine shop at Elkhart, was the candidate of the socialist party for clerk of that city. He polled 174 votes, the strength of the party. The democrats were successful in almost every office in Elkhart. Over at Delphi Walter Gibson, who was the night agent for the Monon railroad here for some time, was a candidate for ward councilman, but Walter’s only chance of winning would have been in a slow race, for he got but one vote. Presuming that he is a socialist, it looks like he got his own vote only, which was lucky for Walter, for if he had voted for some one else he would have been entirely whitewashed.
