Indianapolis Policemen Have a Desperate Fight With Burglars.

Two policemen answered a call to arrest housebreakers at noon Wednesday and were encountered in an alley in the rear of a house the burglars had entered by the men with drawn revolvers. A running battle ensued, during the course of which both burglars were wounded and captured, the policemen being uninjured, although the burglars had each emptied their revolvers at them. As the affray took place in the residence part of the city and some of the stray shots crashed through windows of the surrounding houses, great consternation reigned for some time, and the women did not crawl out from under their beds for some time after the burglars had been carted away in a police ambulance. The burglars names are Mike Foley and William Cardwell. The former was shot four times and is in a critical condition. Just came in, style up to the minute, ladies’ suits and cloaks at The G. E.
