SHOULD KEEP BOYS HOME
The Street—Where Viee, Profligacy and Crime Is Often Learned—ls No Place For Them. Parents often wonder what has ruined their boys, says an exchange. They say that they have been in school every day and that either the teacher does not teach any lessons or morality or else his teaching is a failure. The truth is the boys complained of are on-the streets from the time school closes until late at night. The street is the best place in the world for learning vice, profligacy and crime. Nearly all the bad languages and idle vicious habits of boys are learned on the street at the late hours at night. Teachers may be able to accomplish a little in counteracting these evil influences but much of their labor is in vain until parents co-operate with them in keeping their boys off the streets. At the beginning of the school year is a good time to take the boys in hand and require them to be at home after school hours.
