Remember the cobweb social at Mallatt's hall Thursday night. All are invited to attend. Mrs. Wm. Wassen reports raising 68 bushels of potatoes on a very small plot qf ground and exceptionally large ones. One of them weighed nearly three pounds. Mrs. Cottingham just returned from Wheatfleld, where she has been visiting Dr. Fife and wife. She reports Mrs. Fife as being very poorly, but it seems we all have to take our turn at the unpleasant side of life. Emery Cox, Floyd Cox, Fxed McKay, Bert Umphress and Lew Moffit went over near Kentland this week to husk corn, A 1 Moore is having his house plastered this week. Barney DeWitt moved out of A 1 Helser’s house over into the vicinity of Mt. Ayr. . * Mrs. Joseph Burns, who has been visiting her son-in-law, John S. Call, near Virgie, returned home Monday. Hiram Smith, who has been working in a factory in Chicago, returned to Fair Oaks last Saturday. v Geo. Brohard’s family visited in Rensselaer Saturday and took in the horse show. Wm. Fritz and Nora Beake were united in marriage last Friday. Ora Burns now works at the F}air Oaks pickle factory.— Banker Crawford, who lives on the Lawler ranch, contemplates moving back into Fair Oaks in the hear future Eli Hooper has moved from the Thos. Mallatt tenant house back into Francis Hooper’s residence property. Joseph I. Burns’ sons visited with him last Sunday. John Casey was in Rensselaer Friday on business. Mrs. Susie Casey - and daughter, Fawn, visited with D. Norman and family and Riley Nowels, at Rensselaer, Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. John White is remodeling her room in Fair Oaks and it will be used for a billard room and barber shop.
