The marriage of Mr. Gaylord Parker and Miss Gertrude Downs at Rensselaer Thursday came as a complete surprise to their friends and relatives, even the parents did not know of it until a few minutes before the wedding occurred. But' it is generally supposed that seeing the offer of the King Floral Co. for the first couple to get married during the horse show, was the cause for them making up their minds so suddenly.
Storms That Never Come.
To look forward with profit we must take distance into account. Distance blends something more than enchantment to the view; it lends confusion, gloom, ominous signs, terrifying shapes —anything we may look for. Many a cloud that seems to be coming our way is going in the opposite direction; many an approaching storm will give out long before it reaches us. A grizzly seaman sat on the beach laughing at the consternation of a group of summer visitors who thought they saw a squall coming. They were sure it was almost upon them, but his trained eyes measured five miles between, that were rapidly growing to six. The only reason for looking out for approaching dangers is that we may prepare for their coming; we need not look at all if we are going to see them as already upon us. And “keeping one’s head” in the face of coming danger may result in showing that the supposed danger exists only in imagination.
Eczema Readily Cured By a Simple Home Treatment.
A simple clean remedy that can be used in the home is what every person desires who is suffering from eczema. You can now have that remedy and get instant relief, and be cured permanently by ZEMO, a clean vegetable liquid for external use. ZEMO cures skin diseases by drawing the germs and their poisons, that cause the disease, to the surface of the skin and destroying them, leaving the skin clean and healthy. Mr. A. F. Long, the druggist, will give you a booklet and a sample bottle of ZEMO, and will explain to you how a great many cases of eczema and other forms of skin disease have been curejd by this simple home treatment. z A suit has been brought by Eaton & Co., of Chicago, against the Lafayette school trustees to compel the use of the New Era copy books in the city schdbls. They claim that a contract was made with the state board of education on June 12, 1909, for a period of five years for the use of their system, and the Lafayette trustees refused to accept it. Senator Wood, for Eaton & Co., says that only one other town in the state aside from Lafayette has taken this action. Attorney D. W. Simms, a member of the board, says for the board that they are opposed to spending money for books they cannot use, and that it is a friendly suit to determine what the law really is.
Mr. A. F. Long is pleased to announce that he will continue the agency for ZEMO, the best known remedy for the treatment of eczema, pimples, dandruff, ring worm, prickley heat, tetter, hives or any other form of Bkin or scalp disease. Last year Zemo made some remarkable cures of chronic cases of skin diseases, and Mr. A. F. Long says ZEMO gives the best results of any remedy he has ever sold for the prompt relief and positive cure of any form of skin or scalp disease. ZEMO is a clean, vegetable liquid for external use, pleasant and agreeable to use. Can be used freely on infants. z C. A. Shubart, for three years exalted ruler for the Princeton lodge of Elks, has received notice of his appointment from the grand exalted ruler as district deputy for the south half of Indiana, which includes twen-ty-three lodges. Stories By the Way.
Strange as the story may appear of rats removing hen’s eggs from the bottom to the top of a house by one rat lying on his back and grasping tightly his oval burden, with his forepaws, while his comrades drag him by. the tail, I have no reason, writes a naturalist, to disbelieve it. I have seen two brown rats accomplish the. feat from stair to stair in a farm house, the first anxious rodent pushing the egg up with its hind legs, and the second assistant lifting it up with its forgpfegs. It was the best athletic feat I ever witnessed, but it is not out of the common. The rat will extract the contents from a bottle of olive oil, slipping in his tail, and repeating the maneuver until he has consumed all that ean be reached.
