SMALL CROWD SHIVERS WHILE SHOW PROCEEDS.

Program Carried Out Thursday With Creditable Showing—Wrens Won Ball Game—Balloon Made Fine Ascension. The weather has become worse instead of better and a small" c as braved the chilling breezes to attend the horse show, while the ball game was witnessed Thursday by a very small crowd. The Wrens defeated Medaryville by a score of 4 to 0, but the game was a slow one, and the visitors were clearly outclassed. Brook is playing this afternoon. Hanks pitched yesterday and is repeating again today. The balloon ascension Thursday evening was the finest ever seen in this city. The 3d regiment balloon, which is 90 feet high and 65 feet across when inflated, and of which Prof. J. F. Degering is the manager, was sent up at about 5:15. George Simons, whose father is editor of the Monticello Democrat, made the ascension, and when at a height of about a mile and a quarter, cut loose and, decended in a parachute. The wind drifted him a long ways and he lighted in a plowed field about 3 miles southeast of town. The balloon went some distance farther. .
