Isaac Parker, Mike Nagle and Joe Pullins returned Tuesday from their trip to Mitchell, S. Dak. Isaac came to the Republican office to report how finely the Jasper county people were getting along, and he did not come empty handed, but brought samples of what they raise in that section of the country. He had sacks of wheat and oats and a number of ears of corn, bringing samples from several different farms. The corn was fully matured, the grains full and hard and the ears large and well shaped, the equal of any Jasper county corn we have seen. Isaac, of course, spent most of his time with his brother, Sam, who is sharing in the prosperity of that country, not only by raising good crops but by having materially advanced the price of his land, which he bought three years.. Ago for $45 per acre and which he now holds at $65, and as he has 400 acres he has made a substantial profit besides the large crops he has raised. He first had his farm listed for sale at $55, but he was in such constant fear and trembling all the time lest some one would buy it that he took it off the market and later put it on at another $lO advance. Mitchell was in the height of its corn palace glory while Isaac was there, and he brought home a picture of the palace, which is very fine, showing much architectural talent besides displaying the corn in a clever manner. Mr. Parker was so favorably impressed that he has about decided to go out there himself, although he will not go for at least another year.
