Highly Esteemed Citizen of Monticello Meets Accidental Death.
Alfred Holliday, of Monticello, who was formerly a citizen of Chalmers, met death Thursday - night, having been struck by a Monon train, but at justwhat time is not known. Mr. Holliday a member of the jury that is trying the Newton township road case that is being tried in White county on change of venue from this county. His sister, Mrs. Critchfleld, of near Brookston, died Wednesday night and by argeement he was excused from the jury, and the case is being tried by eleven jurors. That evening he did not go to his home and search resulted in the finding of the body at about 2 o’clock in the morning, lying near the railroad track. Life was extinct, a but the body was not mangled, in fact, it is stated that the only injuries found were a broken leg and a broken arm. Mr. Holliday was preparing to go to California with his family to remain during the winter.
