Dr. Kannal, of Rensselaer, was in town on business last Thursday. Attorney Halleck, of Rensselvjr. was in town on business last Thursday. Several went over to Brook last Thursday to hear Hon. E. D. Crnmpacker speak. Mesdames A. J. Brenner and Carrie Brenner, of Rensselaer, visited here Monday with relatives. J. R. Sigler went to Rensselaer Sunday, accompanying Misses Jean Sigler and Jessie Merry to the train. Ray Adams and wife, of RensseUer. were over Sunday and spent the day with J. S. Brenner and wife. Bruce Hardy and wife, of Rensselaer, came over Saturday evening and visited over Sunday with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Brenner. Miss Jessie Merry, who was returning to Chicago from a trip to Texas to see the land she recently purchased, visited here Saturday and Sunday with her parents. Ed Harris and Mike .Nagle left Tuesday for South Dakota to have a look at the country with a view to purchasing land if it z suits them. County Supt. Schanlaub is taking treatment at a Chicago hospital for what is termed an ulcer of the cornea of the’ eye. He may lose the sight of one eye.

Conda and Oscar Stacker have purchased the Doty farm east of town consisting of 80 acres, the former taking the 40 on the north side of the road at slls per acre and the latter the 40 on the south at SBS. >/ Farmer Hopkins, of near Rensselaer, formerly of near this place, and who recently purchased a new automobile, was over with his family Sunday and spent the day with Chas. Baker and family.

John Szurmnarski, student in Holy Cross seminary, Notre Dame, was drowned and a second boy had d narrow escape from death in an accident on St. Mary’s lake, Notre Dame, Tuesday.
