FORMER PRESIDING ELDER CHARGED WITH TAX DODGING.
Ferrets at Lafayette Allege That Rev. G. W. Switzer Has Not Named All of His Property. t Workman and Higgs, employed as 'tax ferrets by Tippecanoe county, late Wednesday afternoon filed a report with Assessor James M. Stingle that the Rev. George W. Switzer owes that county $2,086.65 for back taxes. Dr. Switzer was for a number of years presiding elder of this district of the Northern Indiana Conference of the Methodist church and at the annual conference held at Crawfordsville, a short time ago, resigned. He has for many years been a director of the American National Bank, and resigned from the ministry to become vice-president of the bank. The board of review last June questioned Dr. Switzer about a block of stock which he had listed at SIO,OOO. When asked about the real value of the stock, Dr. Switzer said he supposed it sold at par, making the block worth $30,000.
