BROOK SHUT OUT; WRENS GET BUT ONE.

Sunday Game Was the Best of the Season and Kevin Made Only Tally on Three Stolen Bases. In the fastest game of base ball ever seen at Riverside park the Wrens defeated Brook Sunday afternoon by a score of 1 to 0.. j Hanks, the regular Wren pitcher, was at his best, and Whiting, Three-Eye recruit, who was doing the mound work for the visitors, had everything on the calendar. Each pitcher was accorded gilt edge support. Two errors were made by each team, but neither error counted in the run getting. Technically there isn’t much to be said, as each team went out in one, two, three order up to the last half of the eighth, when Rensselaer scored their lone run.

Swartzell, first up in this lucky session, was out, chopping at three illusive ones. Kevin, next up, proved himself a good waiter and Whiting passed him to the first station. He immediately stole second. It looked like a run with Hanks, the pinch hitter up. ‘While the little pitcher was looking them over Kevin stole the third sack. Everyone was pulling for a score and no one any harder than Kevin himself, who was leading off third; Thinking to catch him napping Wise, the visiting catcher, whipped the ball to third, but Kevin instead of making an attempt to return throwed in high speed and deliberately stole home. Sounds simple, doesn’t it. Oxford next Sunday. The score:
