Compliments Our County Farm and Jail.
The Indiana Bulletin of Charities and Correction, Just issued, has the following to say of the Jasper county farm and jail. County Poor Asylum, Rensselaer. Visited July, 1909. Population,ls— and 2 women. The bedrooms and living rooms are clean and wholesome, the beds and bedding fresh and clean, the kitchen neat and orderly and the inmates well contented with the treatment received. A hot water system has been installed in the ward building, which it is reported is very satisfactory. The food served is good, well cooked and nutritious. The fruit cellar is lined with fresh canned fruit recently put up by the matron and her assistants. The grounds and gardens are well cared for and are attractive, the inmates taking special pride in keeping thepa so. The superintendent and his wife are patient, tactful and business-like, and the quiet, orderly way the work is accomplished reflects great credit on them. County Jail, Rensselaer. Visited July, 1909. There were no prisoners. The cells are clean and airy, the closets, and bathtubs in splendid Working order, the floors and stairways spotlessly clean and the beds and bedding clean and orderly. The jail is in a sanitary condition.
