Horse Stocks Company Will Probably Dissolve.
At a meeting of the Hemphill Horse Stocks Co. held Monday evening at the offices of J. H. Chapman it was decided to tall a meeting Of al;l stockholders for Thursday evening at which time it is probable that steps will be taken to dissolve the partnership. The company was organized about a year ago for the purpose of manufacturing and pushing the sale of the horse stocks which M. L. Hemphill had invented, manufactured and sold for several years. At about that time Mr. Hemphill had also invented a wagon coupler that possessed a great amount of merit, as it was without a king bolt and was protected from wear from particles of gravel and dust. It was expected to patent this device and also to engage in its sale. Efforts to have it patented, however, were unsuccessful, as other devices embodying the same principles have previously been patented. The company was composed of some 24 stockholders, who set about diligently to push the sale, but the returns were disappointing and the failure to patent the wagon coupler caused the stockholders to doubt the advisability of continuing in business.
