Law In Regard to Automobilists' Rights to Highways of Indiana.
Under the laws in effect in Indiana, automobilists are entitled to onehalf of the street or highway. Drivers of horses, when they meet an autoist coming in their direction, must turn to the right and give one-half of the road. When an auto approaches from behind, in response to the sounding of the horn, the driver of a horse must turn to the right, giving onehalf of the roadway for the autoist to pass to the left. Similar restrictions are imposed upon autoists in regard to conceding one-half of the roadway. State speed regulations provide that an auto shall not be operated to exceed 8 miles an hour in the thickly populated part of a city, not over 15 miles an hour in the sparsely settled sections and not to exceed 20 miles an hour on country roads.
