Mary Childers Has Narrow Escape From Horrible Death.
Mary, daughter'©! Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Childers, had a narrow escape from a horrible death at Duyall’s restaurant, this, Monday, Dooming, about eleven o’clock. Miss Childers was assisting with the work in the kitchen and one of the other girls was starting a fire with gasoline and in some manner the burning liquid was thrown on Miss Childers’ dress. She was enveloped in flames and started to run out doors. Mr. Duvall intercepted her and threw his apron over her head to keep the flames from her face and then rolled her up in a carpet and extinguished the flames. Her right lower limb was badly burned and she also received burns on other parts of the body. She was given treatment at once and no serious results are apprehended, but the burns will be some time in healing.
