James R. Spriggs, notice of whose death was received here yesterday, died at the South Chicago hospital Tuesday night. At the time of the street car accident which resulted la his death, he was standing in the vestibule of the car just starting to cross the tracks after receiving the signal from Conductor Best. The two men composing the crew of the car received the brunt of the collision. Best dying a few hours afterwards and Spriggs hovering between life and death until Tuesday night. Motorman Spriggs resided at Hammond. He had been employed by the Hammond, Whiting and East Chicago City Railway Company as motorman for three years and was one of the most popular men in their employ. The body was brought to Rensselaer last night and the funeral will be held here tomorrow, probably at the Christian church. C. C. Starr & Co. sell gasoline at 15 cents per gallon and oil at 10 cents per gallon.
