Canning Factory to Start at Frankfort Today.

The Federal Canning Company at Frankfort will commence active operations today. It has about 750 acres of sweet corn to can, and it will average about four tons to the acre, and 500 cans to the ton. Thus making about 1,500,000 cans of corn that will be put up. The company expects to employ about 100 men, women and children in the work of canning. The canning of tomatoes will start August 18th, and the company has 450 acres of tomatoes to can. Between 250 and 300 people will be employed during this work. The company has made improvements, such as a new system of cooking, and have placed the plant in the very best condition.
