Wreas Defeated By the Spuds By a Score of 3 to 2.
The Spuds and Wrens had an airtight battle Sunday aftrnoon for eleven innings when the Spuds won out on a three to two score. Hanks, Kevin and Croak were all here, so the Spuds were given Hanks and Croak for a battery, while "Dad” Swartzell was on the mound for the Wrens wjth Wilcox behind the bat. Both batteries were in fine fettle and the hits were few and scattered. All the runs were made on errors, which were few but costly. Both teams scored one run each in tjie second inning, and then there was nothing doing for a long while. Finally in the first half of the eleventh the Wrens managed to push one man over the pan, and everyone present thought that the Spuds were defeated. Not so, however, for they came back strong and tied the score and won after two were out. The game was a very good exhibition and was very good practice for the boys. Next Sunday everyone is going to Oxford to see the Wrens win back their laurels. Better come and go.
