One hundred and fifty-one lots were distributed to subscribers to the factory fund. The distribution took place in the courtroom at the courthouse, and nearly all the subscribers to the factory fund were present. The meeting was called to order by President Warren Robinson, who stated the object of the meeting. C. G. Spitler was chosen chairman of the meeting and C. C. Warner secretary. As provided in the contract, a committee of three was selected by the lot owners to determine the manner of making the distribution. This committee was selected as follows: Prof. S, E. During their absence from the room, E. P. Honan was called upon for a speech and in a few words he explained why he did not subscribe for a lot. MN 1 The committee, upon their return to the room, announced that the distribution would take place by lot, the names of the lot subscribers being placed in one box and tickets containing the number of the lot and block in another. A committee consisting of Joe Hammond, Perry Gwin, A. Halleck, and C. Arthur Tuteur was selected to do the drawing —two drawing tickets from the boxes, one the names, the other the lot numbers. The tickets were drawn simultaneously.
The name of the subscriber was read by one of the other member of the committee and the lot number by the other committeeman. The first name drawn was that of C. Kellner. He drew Lot 9, in Block 20, a much better lot than the average. The best one was Lot 2, in Block 19, which contains a good house and other buildings worth about $1,200. One hundred and eight lots were drawn before this number came from the hat, showing A. F. Long to be the successful man. After this lot was drawn, interest waned and most of thote who had drawn lots left for home.
Lot 1, in the rear of Mr. Long’s lot, was drawn by Rowles & Parker. These were the only lots in Block 19 included in the sale to the (jictory addition by Warren Robinson, the other lots in this block being retained by him when the sale was made, as his residence is located thereon. The best lots were those facing Melville street, the gravel road. These face Rensselaer and are very desirable. Those drawing these lots were: Block 19, Lot 2, A. F. Long. Block 18, lot 2, A. Leopold; lot 3, L»_W. Rhoades; lot 6, Firman Thompson; lot 7, Hiram Day; lot 10, Lee Jessup; lot 11, J. N. Leatherman; lot 14, B. F. Fendig. Blocks 1,2, 3,4, 5, 6, 7,8, 9, 10, 11, 12, just south of the Monon tracks, were reserved for factory purposes. All the lots are leased until the first of next March and possession can not be given until that time, but in the case of those who have already paid for their lots in full, arrangements will be made by the Commercial Club for their release, in case possession at this time is desired. The drawing was fair to all, and no complaint has been heard as to the manner of the distribution.
