Letters from Spokane, in the state of Washington, contain Information of the utmost importance to girls of matrimonial age and Inclination. They state that there is fully 2,000 healthy and fairly well-to-do young bachelors in the Inland Empire, taking in parts of eastern Washington and Oregon, northern Idaho, western Montana and southeastern British Columbia. They want wives. That is, if they can find the right ones. Nearly all of them are good-hearted, kind, affectionate and capable of real love. They say so in letters to Levi Grant Monroe, secretary of the Spokane Chamber of Commerce, who became interested in the movemer when Rev. D. D. Vaughan, pastor of the Halstead street Institutional church, Chicago, announced that more than 200 girls belonging to his congregation would marry “honest men who can make clean money.” “What appeals to me most,” said one of the eligibles, “is the fact that the girls are looking for real home makers. They seem agreed that wealth, talent and swell clothes are not absolutely necessary, but that they want clean men, who are not afraid to work. There are hundreds of strapping young men, full of vim and vigor, in our forests, mines and railroad camps, grain fields, orchards and factories. All of them have had school advantages, and not a few are college men. The majority would marry the right kind of girls and give them life partnerships in good homes” The attorney general charges that the Indiana fire inspection bureau and the Indianapolis inspection bureau have violated a court restraining order, by performing certain functions of their business after the court. had issued an order against them. The attorney general also cites Secretary Mcßeth, of the Indiana state board, well known here, tor contempt of court, alleging that he instructed stamping secretaries throughout the state to receive daily reports in violation of the restraining order. _ _ . The Republican is in receipt of a booklet showing views in and around Medford, Oregon, in the Rogue River Valley. Medford is where G. E. Marshall, former editor of the Republican, purchased a fruit farm, and a view of his residence and fruit farm is given in the booklet. It is a beautiful place for a home and the Rogue River Valley offers advantages not usually found. Mr. Marshall had an almost total failure of his fruit crop last year, and it being his first year in that state he was rather discouraged. This was the first failure of the fruit crop in twenty years and was caused by the early frosts of last year. This year a good crop is expected and last year’s losses will probably be more than covered by the good crops.
