Ex-Trustee of Benton Accused of Spending Money Illegally.

Ex-Trustee Geary, of Hickory Grove township, Benton county, is accused of illegally spending the township’s money. The title of the suit is State of Indiana in the relation of Hickory Grove township of Benton county, Indiana, by George W. Erskine, a citizen and taxpayer of said township, against Henry Geary, Jas. H. Alexander, I. G. Kidle, John Finch, Ingram Mitchell and G. B. James. Geary was the trustee and the others were his bondsmen. He is charged with paying bills without vouchers, not furnishing members of advisory board estimates, amounts and notice and itemized statements in writing of his estimated expenditures, etc., in fact he paid no attention to the law governing the trustee’s office is charged. A demand of SB,OOO is made from Geary and his bondsmen, Judge Vinton, of Lafayette, will pass on the case at Fowler in a few days. Frazer & Isham are representing Geary.
