Senator Haiieck was here Monday night. '* Jesse Tyler is not much improved since he has been at home! Miss Effie Hart came home from Valparaiso Friday evening. Charlie Fish, pf Virgie, visited at Robert Vanduzen’s Sunday. Mrs. W. C. Tvler, of Indiana Harbor, visited relatives here Thursday. Brook Fuller, of Monon, was the guest of Miss Effie Fairchild Sunday. Rev. J. B. Payton and Mrs. Payton, of Wheatfield, visit DeMotte every Tuesday. . Miss Lena Lakotzski expects to go to Hammond this week for a visit with relatives. Miss True Bruner, of Rensselaer, came Friday to st%y awhile with her aunt, Mrs. Troxell.
Whitsel Lewis visited relatives here Saturday and Sunday, returning to Rensselaer Monday. The kraut factory is being built now, and the cabbage that has been planted is looking fine. Miss Jessie Doty, of Shelby, spent a few days with her sister, Mrs. Bert Struble, the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Sigler received a telephone message Friday that Mrs. Goff, of Rensselaer, was very much worse. They departed at once for Rensselaer.
John Sparling and family drove over from their home near Hebron Thursday to visit his parents, and also went to Monon to see his sister, Mrs. Julia Fairchild, and returned home Saturday. Miss May Fairchild and her sister Sadie started this week for Seattle, Wash., to visit relatives and to attend the Alaska-Yukon exposition. They expect to go to California on their trip and Sadie may spend one year at the latter place. Miss May intends to be back to begin school in September.
