Mrs. James Burns, of Union township, returned home today from Soldier Grove, Wis. 1 Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Stith returned to Lafayette today, after a vi§it with her brother, George Gorham, and fami!y. Henry Childers, of Delphi, who has been visiting his son, J. W. Childers, and relatives at Mt. Ayr, returned home today. Don’t forget that G. B. G. K. Hollingsworth and family came from Chicago last evening in their automobile to spend the hot months in their summer home here.
Sherman Schneider, of Cleveland, 0., who has been visiting his uncle, John Rishling, left this morning for Spokane, Wash., where he will work in an automobile factory.

Mrs. Richard Crowell has stored her household goods and will make her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McFarland, until she joins her husband in Montano. Rice Porter will move into the house vacated by her.
Hon. I. D. Dunn, of Tefft, was in the city today. He reports the finest crops in Kankakee township this year in its history. A neighbor has the finest field of wheat ever grown in the county and corn and oats crops can’t be beat.
The up-stairs of the Chicago Bargain Store is being remodeled by tearing out the partitions and converting all the office rooms except those in the front and throwing them into large rooms. When Rowles & Parker move into this building they expect to use the up-stairs as a dressmaking and millinery department.
Referee Bowers, of Hammond is here today taking evidence in the Parker bank failure in which John Burger, a brother-in-law of Mr. Parker, has a claim of about $28,000 (-.gainst the failed bank. Amony those present from Remington are Trustee W. H. Sheadle, J. R. McCullough and Ike Thomas. Judge Darroch, of Kentland, is also present.
Despondent because an Indianapolli young woman, with whom he was in love, would not return his affection, Patrick O’Brien, aged 28, committed suicide at Crawfordsville by drinking more than an ounce of carbolic acid. Three years ago O’Brien was sentenced to the Jeffersonville reformatory for attempting highway robbery, but was recently paroled.
