HAPPY MARRIAGE IS OF VERY SHORT DURATION.
William Henry Gray Cracks His Wife Over Head When She Returns For Her Goods.
William Henry Gray and Miss Olive Jane Beesey were married in Rensselaer March 29th. Their married life was of short duration and two or three weeks ago Gray came home from work and found his wife gone. A few days ago she returned from Monon for some of her belongings and her husband refused to let her have the goods. She made her appearance again yesterday in company with her father and Gray consented to a division. Her father went after a wagon in which to remove the goods and during his absence a dispute arpse as to .the ownership of a butter dish. Gray picked up .a stew pap and hit his wife on the hepd. This failed tjo have desired effeqt aty|. Gray •cracked his wife over the head with the butter dish. The dish broke and one of the pieces in falling cut her nose quite severely.
Her father returned about this time and called Marshal Parks and Officer Thomas, but by the time they arrived Gray had disappeared. A warrant was sworn out for his arrest and on his arrival home that night he was arrested on the charge of assault and battery and on a plea of guilty he was fined $lO and costs, $16.10 in all, by Squire Irwin.
