the train they went to the home of Mrs. E.-P. Honan, where they and the D. A. R. ladies of this city were entertained at tea. In the evening they went to the home of C. W. Coen, accompanied by their husbands, where Mrs. James N. Fowler gave an Illustrated lecture on her trip around the world. All the ladies returned to their respective homes this morning, except Mrs. Falley, who will visit here until evening. Mr. and Mrs. Warner, of Sheldon, HI., who have been visiting her daughter, Mrs. James' Randle, returned home last evening. George Ketchum took them as far as Remington in his automobile. Mrs. James M. Fowler and Mrs. Frederick Falley, of Lafayette; Mrs. J. F. Dinwlddie and Mrs. J. P. Carr, of Fowler, were here last evening attending the D. A. R. entertainment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Coen. “• The Rensselaer checker club suffered defeat in the contest with the Kentland team last night by the score of 23 to 13. Thirty-six games were played and the Rensselaer team was not in it at any stage of the contest. Only three members of the Kentland team were present—Bringham, Bloom and Keesler.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain went to Chicago today for consultation regarding the latter’s health. They were accompanied by Mrsr-Leo-ta Jones, who Is returning home after a visit with her son, Mr. Chamberlain, and family. Mrs. Rebecca Porter and Miss Clara Parker left yesterday oq a three weeks’ pleasure trip.
