A Little Domestic Jar.
She—You (shriek) brute, before we married (shriek), (shriek) you said mamma could come and see us as often (shriek) as she pleased. He (meekly)—Yea, dear; but she has ceased to please. Associate Justice Brewer, of the United States supreme court, celebrated his seventy-second birthday anniversary Monday. He is a wonderfully well preserved man and has not only retained the vigor of strength which made him one of the leaders In the legal profession a decade ago, but he has continued to advance In the honor and respect of that unusually trying department of the national government. Senator Shively, who has been confined to his room and to his bed In Washington a part of the time for the last two weeks, Is slowly regaining bis strength again, although he Is not able to attend tbe sessions of the senate. The senator la planning an ocean voyage soon after the adjournment of congress. His brother, A. B. Shively, of South Bend, is his constant companion and attendant.
