Chas. W. Coen Is Re-elected City School Trustee.

At the city council meeting Monday evening Chas. W. Coen was reelected trustee of the city schools. He received four votes and B. N. Fendig one vote. Mayor Ellis was absent and C. G. Spitler presided in his place. B. Forsythe presented a petition asking for the improvement of East Washington street from the Makeever House to its east end. The petition provides for a macadam street 40 feet wide with cement curb. The matter was referred to the city attorney and street committee and instructions were given to prepare a resolution for the improvement. Frank Kresler presented a bill of $25 for injuries to one of his horses which stepped into an improperly filled water trench. The claim was referred to the city attorney. “ The assistant engineers and firemen at the light plant were given a raise in salary from S6O per month to sls per week, making a difference of S6O per year to each hand. The members of the fire company present at the Scott fire were allowed $1 each and at the King fire $2 each. The treasurer’s report was presented. It shows the following funds on hand. Water fund, $512.35; corporation fund, $189.73; electric light fund* $2,935.20; road fund, $359.85. The superintendent of the water plant was instructed to make a water tap for the Horton building at the city’s expense, but Mr. Horton is retf • quired to pay for digging the trench and filling same.
