A. Leopold was at Wolcott on business yesterday. Mrs. Charles Elder and children are spending the day at Parr. Mrs. K. -Myers, of Avita, was a visitor at the college this week. Mrs. John Aipokufd, of Wabash, was here to attend the commencement. The carpenters began work on the Horton and Roth buildings this morning. Miss Alice Parks, daughter of C. L. Parks, of Surrey, is visiting her brother at Raiabridge. Mrs. Philip Sweeney, of Ft. Wayne, was here to attend the commencement at St. Joseph’s college. Chas. Vick has rented Mrs. S. R. Nichols’ house on south Weston street and will move therein. * 1 Miss Hazel Lamson has returned froth East Chicago, Ind., and is now at home with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Warner and son, of Niohe, N. Y., are here for a week’s visit with his sister, Mrs. John M. Knapp. There will be preaching at Blue Grass, in Newton township, next Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. Kindig. The thirty-fifth annual session of the Battle Ground Camp Meeting and Bible Institute will be held at Battle Ground July 29th to August 9th. Mrs. Charles W. Platt and her mother, Mrs. Zacker, of near Surrey, returned this afternoon from a visit with relatives at Iron Junction, Minn. The painters from Indianapolis, who have the contract for painting the windows and inside of the court house began work today. Mrs. A. Woodworth and daughter, Mrs. Ralph Sprague, and little daughter, Marjorie, are visiting the former’s daughter, Mrs. F. P. Morton, of Goodland. Babcock & Hopkins yesterday received a new E. M. F. automobile for their personal use. It is a four passenger car and the selling price is $1,250. W. B. Bringle, of Jordan township, has purchased a fine 5 passenger E. M. F. car and expects it from Detroit today. Scott Chestnut is bringing it through. The cost is $1,250. Will Grant, of Fort Worth, Texas, came today for a visit with his father, W. S. Grant, who has been in poor health for some time. Will has been in Texas for the past six years. Mrs. Wm. Williams and baby, of Chicago, are here to attend the funeral of the former’s brother, Joe Williams, which will he held today at Brushwood church, in Barkley township. Officer Thomas arrested Chas. Thompson, who was celebrating on the streets this morning at one o’clock by kicking over the garbage cans and other pranks. Today Squire Irwin fined him $lO and costs, $19.65 in all, and Thompson went to jail until the money could be raised for his release. Mrs. Bessie Parker Shesler.is in a Tuka, Okla., hospital recovering from an operation for a condition caused by severe nervous troubles. She is doing as well as can be expected and her friends there are hoping for her restoration to health again. She has purchased property beside the home of Mrs. Blanche Sigler, in Grand View addition, and will move therein as soon as possible. The automobile feature of the celebration at Fowler on Saturday before the Fourth is going to be the drawing card there and several of our machine owners are planning to go. The tests of the drivers’ skill in a number of novelty races, as well as the capacity of different machines tc respond to the driver’s will, will make it an interesting event for both present and prospective owners.
