Wrens Win Loosely Played Game From Morocco Sunday.
In a game replete with errors on the part of both teams the Wrens slipped one over on Morocco Sunday to the tune of 10 to 4. It looked like a good game for two innings, Roadruck, Morocco’s Ist slab artist having retired the five of the first six Wrens up by the strike out route. But when the Wrens came to bat in the third Morocco exploded and when the smoke had cleared away four Wrens had romped home, on a base on balls, four errors and a timely hit by McLain. There was nothing stirring for Morocco in the fourth, but the Wrens came back and secured one more run just to make it safe. Bachant was safe on the Ist sakers’s error, stole second, got on 3rd on Mulligan’s fumble of McLain’s grounder, who immediately stole second; Bachant them scored on E. Wilcox’s single to left. The next three birds were retired and that ended it. Both teams played ball in the sth and no scoring took place.
In the sixth however the first Mohamedan hit safely to left for one base, Hanks winged the next one, the third one singled to center and brought one man home and placed another on second. Then Moore, the captain of the visitors secured a bingle to left and the Wrens made two errors trying to throw a man out on third and let in two runs. The score was then 5 to 3 and looked more interesting, but the birds were never in danger. Bachant came to bat in the sixth and got to second on Archibald’s muff of his long fly and scored on McLain’s second hit of the day. Rensselaer proved to be unmerciful foes and got two in the seventh and the same in the eighth while the losers from Newton county were able to get but one more in the seventh on two errors, a stolen base and Roadruck’s single to left.
