Kirkpatrick Ditch Contract Let.
The contract for the construction of the Kirkpatrick ditch, which has caused many farmers just across the line in Jasper and Benton counties a good deal of worry on account of the assessments on their farms, was sold Monday afternoon at the home of Henry Millner, to the Chicago Construction Co. The ditch was sold in four sections as follows: The main ditch to be tiled for $4,065? with Geo. Hart, lateral, for $1,900; W. B. Waterman lateral $480; and the open ditch $2,800. The ditch commences at the line fence between the Wlckersham and Hart farms in Jasper county and runs in a southerly direction and ends in Benton county just a few rods north of James E. Watt’s farm. The bid made by the Chicago Construction company was the lowest by 2,900. It will take sixty-three car loads of tile and the ditch will be made with a steam ditcher. The work will begin soon.—Goodland Herald.
