HOME SUPPLY MANUFACTURING COMPANY WANTS LOCATION.
Seeking Location for a Plant in Bens* selaer —Will Employ No Less Than Three Hundred People. W. H. Reynolds, president of the Home Supply Manufacturing Company, of Chicago, who was in our city Thursday looking for a location for the removal of their plant, was very much impressed with our city and seemed to think that no better place to, locate could be wished for. Owing to the short notice given of his coming he was unable to meet all of the members of the Commercial Club, but those with whom he did come in contact seemed very much impressed with his concern. He did not submit any proposition, saying that he would do this later in writing. The products of the Home Supply Manufacturing Co. are the Magic Baking Powder and the Northern Magic Washing Powder, the latter being something similar, but having greater powers than Gold Dust. Mr. Reynolds asserted that his company was under contract to furnish great quantities of the powder by the 15th of next month to jobbers and as their present quarters are not large enough to permit them to furnish this amount, it is necessary for them to secure some place where they can erect a large plant immediately. Twenty thousand square feet of floor Space will be necessary at once, although Mr. Reynolds said that they COuld get along with less while a permanent plant was being built. Mr. Reynolds asserted that they would bring with them about 100 persons who were under contract to buy either a lot or a house and lot. The rest of the people employed in the establishment will be local help. Mr. Reynolds was very enthusiastic in his praise of the washing powder, saying that two spoonsful would do any ordinary washing with-it any rubbing whatever. This concern does not ask any cash bonus, as they already have enough money to finance it and have no stock for sale; all they want is a location. In the proposition to be submitted to the Commercial Club the company will probably ask for five acres of ground on which to locate their factory and also a building containing 20,000 feet of floor space. As the company has contracts that must be taken care of immediately, if their contract is accepted by the Commercial Club, some of the vacant rooms near the depot will probably be rented for temporary quarters until the factory building can be erected. As soon as the proposition of the factory people is submitted in writing the matter will be acted upon by the Commercial Club. Mr. Reynolds also has a patent on an improved refrigerator which takes but little ice, which he expects to manufacture in his plant after a new location is secured.
