Township Statistical Report Proves Yery Interesting.
Township Assessor George Scott has very carefully gathered the statistics of Marion township required by blanks sent out by the state statistician, John L. Peetz. The purpose is to determine accurately the amount of land devoted to each crop, the number of acres, the number of bushels per acre and the amount received for each acre, also -to find out the number of each kind of stqck, the value of the stock, and thus to arrive at a fair idea of the agricultural importance of each township and in the aggregate of the state. Some of the interesting Marion township statistics are set forth in the following extract from the report: There are 181 farms in the township with a total of 31,874 acres. Of this total 25,660 acres are drained and 28,160 acres are tillable or improved. There are 6,392 acres of cleared pasture and 2,353 acres* in woodland pasture. during year, 53,970 dozen; value, $8,095. There are 42 miles of Improved gravel or stone roads in tbe township and 85 of unimproved roads. There are also 14% miles of unimproved roads bordering on this township. The report gives an idea of the vast amount of produce in the township. The assembled reports of all the townships of the county would prove Interesting.
