Benton County Gravel Boad Bonds Fail to Sell.

The first backset in gravel road building that has happened in Benton county is on the Balensiefer gravel road on the township line between Parish Grove and Hickory Grove townships. This is one of the most needed roads in the county and the bonds had been printed and the contract let. The Marion Trust Company of Indianapolis has been a steady buyer of Benton county gravel road bonds and when these were sent them they threw them out because while the road was going through the law was ammended by the legislature without any provision for the pending legislation. The Fowler attorneys did not think the change affected this road because the acts of the Commissioners were completed before the act was repealed, and all that remained was for the treasurer to sell the bonds, but as he cannot do that the whole proceedings will have to be gone through again. The contract for the building of the Michaels road north of Fowler was not let at the last term because it was not started under the law, and would be in much worse shape legally than the Balensiefer.
