FOR THE PROTECTION OF QUAIL IN INDIANA.

State Fish and Game Warden Z. T. Sweeney Willing to Aid Farmers In Providing Shelter. State Fish and Game Commissioner Z. T. Sweeney has issued a statement in which he says he will pay for the plowing and for the seed if farmers in this state will each set apart about one-quarter of an acre of ground and grow some jßort of covering where quail may be protected from hawks and other birds of prey and from the elements. Commissioner Sweeney Bays the quail are rapidly disappearing in Indiana because the underbrush is being cleared out and wire fences are taking the places of rail fences, leaving no corers where they may hide. He says' something must be done by the farmers or the quail supply in this state. will soon be a thing of the past.
