Mitchell's Smokeless Powder To Be Introduced in England.
Representative Crumpacker has received Information from Glasgow, Scotland to the effect that James Caleb Mitchell, of Monticello, Ind., has succeeded in enlisting the' support of some of the best people of Great Brltian in promoting his new smokless powder Invention. This invention has cost Mr. Mitchell dearly, as he lost both eyes in the experiments that led up to it. Some months ago he went to Glasgow under the chaperonage of an Indiana man to introduce his discovery abroad. It evidently has appealed to the best minds of the British people as being both novel and useful, for Mr. Crumpacker is informed that a company with a quarter of a million dollars capital has been formed at Glasgow to exploit it throughout Europe. The prospectus announcing the formation of the company and its prospects Bpeaks of it in terms of unusual confidence and enthusiasm, which means much more in Scotland than In America, because, under the British laws, every prospectus must be passed upon and approved by a board of experts before it can be issued.
