Considerable Rivalry to Make Company M Rifle Team.
About twenty-five members of the *■ local militia company have availed themselves of the opportunity to indulge in rifle praotice on the company’s fine rifle range at Parr. This range was erected by the government at a cost ,of several hundred dollars and is one of the finest targets in the state, being supplied with two double Aiken targets, and having raised firing butts at all the different ranges. The firing is done .from the 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 1,000 yard points, and the riflemen are trained in sights ing, distance gauging, wind conditions, elevation, qtc. The company has a very good team in prospect to compete at the battalion rifle range at Columbia City in June, and any member of the company who has complied with the requirements of attendance at drill is eligible to make the team. 86 far twelve members of the company have shot at the 200, 300 and 600 yard ranges and make a skirmish run from the 600 yard point. The standing of these is printed below, and is very good considering the length of practice apd the fact that several of the men had never shot one of the government rifles before. In the marksman course the following scores were*made: GarlAnd 125, Gangloff 116, Healey , 109, W. J. Thomson 109, Warren 107, Woodworth 103, Scott 103, Markin 100, Robinson 99.
