False Fire Alarm Calls Out Department.

An alarm of fire just after 9 o’clock this Saturday morning called out the fire department and a large array of citizens. The alarm came from the Monnett Children’s Home, but there was no fire. The matron discovered some smoke in the upper rooms of the house and when a man was found tcf shovel the collection of soot out of the lower part of the chimney he found it so hot and occasional particles of fire that they decided to call out the fire department just to have It on hand in case it should be needed. The department was called to the same house about a year ago, and It Is probable that there is a defective flue there that will some time cause trouble unless It Is repaired. When the fire alarm sounded the city team was out near the depot, and assistant city teamster Earl Chesnut brought them in at a dead run. The flrempn all responded In quick shape and seemed really disappointed that there was nothing to do in the fire fighting line.
