Sequel to the Story of the Spilled Beer.

Troubles never go singly even for the drinker off’ booze, and thus has come to our attention a sequel of deep interest to the tale of the spilled beer at the depot last Sunday. It is said that the same unfortunate man who saw the beer sink into i — V —v *y y the ground after the basket handle broke, was the bearer of a bottle of stronger liquid commonly called among tiplers by the name of “skee” ; but which most people call by the correct name of whiskey. After the spilling disaster the bearer thought he would make no mistake with the whiskey and carefully wrapping it in a gunny sack he hied himself over in the neighborhood of the Babcock & Hopkins elevator and hunted for a placp ta' conceal the treasure. An apparently empty barrel seemed to afford a goad hidirig piece and the botttb and bag wer-e carelessly cast intp it. Later, after the shades of darkness had cqme athwart the sky the party returned in oompany with an individual of equally intense thirst. A little feeling around located the gunny sack but it refused to release its holdings in the bottom ol> the barrel. Finally with somewhat o# a jerk the bag or part of it came loose but the bottom had torn out of it aud it was evident that the barrel was a quarter full of coal tar. The bottle had been lifted part way up when the sack was torn and had fallen into the tar and buried, itself beneath the surface and all manner of fishing around failed to locate, it. It was a sad pair, no beer and no “skee” and an appetite that could drink lemon extract and call it delicious. Both were inclined to the belief that Sunday was their jonah day. The next day by some careful grappling with various hooks the bottle was brought to the surface, and its contents were Uninjured by the black bath. In fact, a fellow that gets in the habit of drinking whiskey isn’t particular about the vessel he drinks it out of.
