UNION TOWNSHIP MAKING PROGRESS.
Residents of That Commonwealth Claim That It Leads In Improve* ments In Past Two Tears. “You can’t lose Union township," §ald a patriotic resident of that upit a few days ago. And with just pride he proceeded to recount some of the things that have been done in a substantial way in that township within the I>ast two years. He is not certain that he enumerated all the implements that have been made, because Union la a large township and with the many hundreds of dollars that have been expended in dredge ditching, tile ditching,' bridging and improving of roads, the private improvements have kept pace and it is quite a big proposition to sit down and enumerate every building improvement, but the following are what the reporter caught as he rapidly punched bis lead pencil across his note book: Steve Comer remodeled and enlarged his house at a probable cost of about $1,200. • Geo. W. Infield built a large barn at a coat of $1,500. John Qwin built a new house,, estimated cost $2,000. W-l Harvey Barter expended $1,200 in a house. Paul Schultz built a new barn. Barney Comer spent abofUt SI,OOO In cement floored corn bins, well house, and other small buildings. Logan Wood built*a cement business room at Parr and a concrete milk house at his residence in that town. A. Schultz built a new house at a cost of $1,200. AmoS Alter built a new mill and made other Improvements about his Rose Bud farm that cost about $1,500. S. P. Thompson had a new barn and two fine large silos erected at his sheep barn farm, also built new corn cribs and made many other substantial repairs at his other farms. L. Babcock overhauled and repaired buildings on his farm. August Schultz built- a~ new » bfyn and new double corn cribs. Walter Harrington moved and remodeled the old McColly property. George Hammecton built sheds around his barn. Ernest Stibbe built a big new barn at a probable cost of $1,500. A 1 Witham bought a house from Jim Burns, moved it to his own land and repaired it. Vick Yeoman built a good double corn crib and sheep barn and an addition to his horse barn. Fred Renicker built a new house and new barn. Joe- Williams built a new shed, granary and installed new scales. Bruce Moffit built a new house. i William Schultz built a double corn crib. George Casey built a double corn . crib and scales. Rinold Eilts built a new house, double corn crib and granery at a probable cost of $2,500. Mrs. Eilts biiilt a new porch and made other improvements at her farm. Chah Harrington built a new barn. C. L. Eggleston, of near Fair Oaks, built a fine new house and barn, costing about $3,500. It is probable that all of $50,000 has been spent in Union township for building improvements within the past two years. Let other townships speak up and proclaim what they have done. The Republican will be glad to publish a list of improvements from any township in the county.
