Pitchfork Tillman Attends A White House Dinner.

Senator Tillman, of South Carolina, is again on the dinner list of the White House, after having been deprived of this honor for-several years past. Tuesday night, together with Mrs. Tillman, he was “among those present” at the hospitable Taft table. In 1902, Senator Tillman was lnvitey by President Roosevelt to the White House in honor of Prince Henry of Prussia, but the invitation was withdrawn after the pitchfork statesman had a fist fight on the floor of the Senate with his colleague, McLaurin. Mr. Tillman never visited the White House again until several weeks ago, when he called to pay his respects to President Taft, saying he had been waiting all these years until he could meet “a gentleman in the White House. ‘ The contract for the construction of the new postofflce building in Michigan City was awarded to the Interstate Construction company of Saginaw, Mich. Its bid was $42,990. The Larson-Danielson Construction company, of Laporte, was among the bidders.
