Thomas Re-elected Nightwatch; C. B. Steward Elected Fire Warden.

At the city council meeting Monday evening a nightwatch and fire warden were elected. There were three candidates for the nightwatch Job, E. M. Thomas, the present nightwatch, Lyman Zea and Alva Simpaon. Thomas got 3 votes and Zea and Simpson one each. C. B. Steward was elected fire warden by a. vote of 3 to 2, J. J. Montgomery, the present fire warden, being defeated. The street committee was authorized to investigate and ascertain the cost and manner of making certain

street repairs. The city treasurer’s report shows the following balances in the cit; treasury: Road fund, $365.70; water, $428.41; corporation, $177.78; light, $3,949.52. L. C. Klosterman was appointed city engineer to serve until January 1, Islo.

The members of the fire department were allowed $1.50 each for attendance at the Snyder fire and $1 each for attendance at the Montgomery fire. J. W. Horton was granted a permit for the erection of a brick building 30x64 feet with gravel roof on the corner of Washington and Cullen streets. The following claims were allowed: —Corporation Fund— W.
