FAIR OAKS.

Mrs. Waterman, of Chicago, visited with F. R. Erwin’s a day this week.. Mrs. Kight is visiting . this week with her son, Jack, of Wheatfleld. Sharp Hanly and family have moved to a farm four miles west of town. Frank Hooper and wife are working for F. R. Ewin at present. Mrs. Lib White, of DeMotte, spent Sunday with Chas. Halleck’s. ( Ed Kesler is having an addition built to his house. Jim McColly and son are doing the work. Eliza Thompson, who had her ankle dislocated a couple of weeks ago, is still unable to walk on it. Rev. Dunkleburger, of Lowell, will preach in the Christian church next Saturday evening. All are invited. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clifton with son Morton went to visit Mrs. Clifton’s mother, near Remington, this week. Charles Otis is going to start work ia the pickle raising business now in a few days. Charles Barker had a couple of nice tombstones sent here to be placed at the graves of their children, who are buried here in the cemetery. Grandma Hall has moved "into the Bert Warren house, and operator Barneß has rented a couple of rooms in the Fay house and will occupy them with little Jack for awhile. Miss Cora Littner came near having a bad case of poisoning this week, from chewing a few mole beans she happened to find lying around handy. She was quite sick for a day or two. The bodies of Samuel Hoover, a farmer, and his wife, were found in the ruins of their burned barn near Middlebury, Ind., by neighbors who had put out the fire with buckets of water, and from all the available evidence it is gathered that the two were murdered, their bodies carried into the barn and the building set on fire.
