The Chicago Automobile Club, under whose auspices the big auto races are to be held in June over the Low-ell-Crown Point course, have written to authorities encouraging the arrest for scorching over the auto course except during the time when the races are held and during a period designated for practice. The officers of the club encourage the officers of the law to arrest all violators iot the speed law, and say that they do not want to be understood as defending their own members who violate any laws. Rational automobiling is what the Chicago Club stands for. The bids for the repair of the race track stone roads was let last Saturday to Chicago parties for the sum of twenty-one thousand dollars, and report says it must be finished by June 4th, which means a great amount of work to be done in a very short time. It seems the Lake county people can well afford to let them race two days for that amount of money put on the roads, for they certainly cannot wear it all out.—Crown Point Star. Having purchased the large stock of the Peoples' Grocery at less than 50 cents on the dollar, and having to move it in with our other largo stock, we must reduce the same.
