Carpenter and Gilboa Road Contract Let.

Delos Thompson and W. F. Smith were in Fowler Friday bidding on the contract for constructing the six miles of east and west stone road between Carpenter township, -this county, and Qilboa township, Benton county. The road was petitioned for in two sections, the west section by Peter Geib and others and the east section by Henry Beeks and others. The center of the road is at the intersection of the Remington road, only a mile and a half south of -that town, and while the town is assessed for the construction of the road the assessment will be light and it v will be a great incentive to trade. The contract was let to a- man named Haynes, of Fowler. The Thompson-Smith bid was about S6OO too high, which was hitting close on an SIB,OOO contract.
