Spilled His Booze As He Left the Train.
A Rensselaer citizen went north Sunday to a place where spirituous, vinous and malt liquors are s<fld seven days in the week, 24 hours in the day and 365 days in the year, and bought himself a basket full of bottled beer. It seems a custom for persons who bring beer to Rensselaer on the milk train to get off on the side of the train opposite the depot and this person followed that custom. He was marching off the train with a carerfree air, apparently planning the joyous evening; he was going to spend with his liberal supply of booze, when suddenly just as he was descending the steps one side of the basket handle broke and the beer bottles went rattling down the steps and fell in a broken mass on the ground. All was broken but one bottle and before the train pulled out the owner had made his escape with the one bottle, and the disabled basket and the broken bottles covered with a little foam were left to tell the story of disappointment.
