Pickle Vats Proposed to be Established Here.
John Resh, of Gifford, has been in the city a day or two trying to interest the people of the city and surrounding country in pickle growing, and proposing if a suitable number of acres can be contracted to erect a salting station in this city. He represents the Illinois Pickle Co.,‘ and states that under favorable conditions a properly tended acre of pickles will earn its tender something like SIOO. Several farmers in and near Parr last year raised pickles and it is probable a salting station will be installed there this year. Vacant lots will reward their owners handsomely if placed in pickles. The company furnishes the seed and gives instructions as to how to plant and tend them. Mr. Resh talked with President Warren Robinson, of the Commercial Club, and made the offer that he would pay the club SSO if it would secure contracts with farmers to raise 100 acres of pickles this year. A contract was drawn up and the effort will be made to secure the contracts. Here is a chance for suburban property owners to make considerable money.
