Gifford Country Much Benefited by Drainage.
Ed Oliver was in form Newland this ¥uesday-TOTTl[ing and stated to the Republican that the farmers in his section of the county were further along with their work this year than they ever have been before. Notwithstanding the frequent rains the farmers there have their oats in and have done some plowing for corn. The reason for it is the Improved drainage. Several large ditches have been cut through the land and much tile laid. Mr. Oliver states that since the dredging of the Iroquois the water in the main Gifford ditch moves at least a third faster than it did before. Unquestionably that fertile land will be the finest in the county when, properly drained, and it is rapidly forging to the front e I have suits for everybody, so be sure and get yours next Saturday, May Ist, as my line is full of nobby patterns and cuts. All at reasonable prices.
